EYFS & KS1 Hands On Maths

EYFS

In EYFS the children have been learning about capacity. They are beginning to use mathematical vocabulary to compare the mass and capacity of different objects within the classroom. The reception children explored the mass of various items in the classroom using balance scales. 

KS1

In Year 1/2 the pupils have been working on their number bonds.  Using concrete resources helps the children to explore finding number bonds themselves. For example, for finding their number bonds to 10, they could used two different coloured counters to represent each number bond and they were then able to represent these as a number sentence.
