Year 3/4 Science: Electricity

We made simple, series circuits, choosing the equipment we needed carefully. We had to make sure all the wires joined so the electrical current could travel to light the bulb, or make the buzzer work. We added a switch into our circuits, this meant we were able to control the flow of electricity and also use this in our torches for DT.

We also investigated the different materials which were conductors or insulators. We discovered that metals are good conductors and that other materials are not. We talked about safety with water around electricity and to avoid playing near overhead power lines with kites or fishing rods.

We found out the difference and discussed the reasons for some appliances being battery or mains electricity, sorting these into groups.
